Don’t Lose Diamonds in Search of Stones

A man was exploring caves by the seashore. In one of the cave, he found a canvas bag with a bunch of hardened clay balls. It was like someone has rolled clay balls and left them out in the sun to bake.

They didn’t look like much but they intrigued the man. So, he took the bag out of the cave with him. As he strolled along the beach, he would throw the clay balls one at a time out into the ocean as far as he could.

He thought little about it until he dropped one of the balls and it cracked open on a rock. Inside was beautiful, precious stone. The excited man started breaking open the remaining clay ball. Each contained a similar treasure. He found thousands of dollars worth of jewels in the 20 or so clay balls he had left.

Suddenly, it poked him. He had been on the beach a long time. He had thrown maybe 50 or 60 of the clay balls with their hidden treasure into the ocean waves. Instead of thousands of dollars in treasure, he could have taken home tens of thousands, but he just threw it away without even trying to know the motive of keeping the clay balls like this.

It’s same with people. We look at someone, maybe even ourselves; we just look the external ugly vessel covering the inner beauty of a person. If it doesn’t look like much from the outside, we assume it’s not worthy. If it isn’t beautiful or sparkling, there comes an urge to ignore it at first sight.

We see a person as less important, not beautiful, well known or wealthy; we didn’t give a second look at it. We usually do not bother to find the treasure hidden inside or even give enough time to get it revealed on its own.

There is always a reason why you meet people. Either you need to change your life, or you have the one that will change theirs by connecting with you. Even if it doesn’t bring advantages to you, stay with people; let them enjoy some fruits of life through you. After all, you may have seen 'Beauty and the Beast'.
